Asteroid “Child” and the Great Sign

REVELATION CHAPTER 12 describes a great sign in the heavens:

“A great sign appeared in heaven: a woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet and a crown of twelve stars on her head. She was pregnant and cried out in pain as she was about to give birth. Then another sign appeared in heaven: an enormous red dragon …. The dragon stood in front of

the woman who was about to give birth, so that it might devour her child the moment he was born” (vv. 1–4).

In mid-September this year, the constellation that depicts a woman, Virgo, will be “clothed with the sun with the moon under her feet,” as described in Revelation. Simultaneously, an asteroid named “Child”

(4580) will be exiting the belly of Virgo—a picture of a birth.

In view of the similarities between September’s alignment and the Revelation 12 Sign, it is fascinating to consider six coincidences related to the asteroid named Child.

STRONG’S NUMBER

The identifying number of asteroid Child is 4580. In the Bible’s ‘index,’ Strong’s Concordance, #4580 is the word “second,” and refers to a man named “Secundus,” a travelling companion of Paul who belonged to the Church at Thessalonica (Acts 20:4). With this in mind, it is striking to note that Paul’s second letter to the Church at Thessalonica (2 Thessalonians 2) begins by addressing the timing of the Rapture:

“Concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our being gathered to him [at the Rapture], we ask you, brothers and sisters, not to become easily unsettled or alarmed by the teaching … asserting that the day of the Lord has already come. Don’t let anyone deceive you … for that day will not come until the

falling away [departure–rapture] occurs” (2 Thess. 2:1–3).

It is uncanny, to say the least, that the number of the asteroid Child (4580) corresponds to the Strong’s number of Paul’s companion—“Secundus from Thessalonica”—and the scripture that explains how the Rapture precedes the Day of the Lord.

THE RED DRAGON

In Revelation 12, as the “child” is being born, a “red dragon,” representing Satan, is standing in front of the woman:

“The dragon stood in front of the woman who was about to give birth, so that it might devour her child the moment he was born” (v. 4).

With the red-dragon component of the Revelation 12 Sign in view, it is interesting to note the following about the “Red Planet,” Mars:

- During this year’s Revelation 12 alignment, the Red Planet, Mars, will be near Virgo’s belly as the asteroid Child is being born. Moreover, 2023 is the only year this occurs in the 15-year span

between 2015 and 2030.

- In 2007, NASA captured an image of a landscape feature on Mars that resembles a huge “dragon” (see notes).

- In 2017, NASA captured a photo of a unique surface texture on Mars, which it compared to “dragon scales.”

- “Red Dragon” is the name of SpaceX’s Mars project, which aimed to send unmanned “Dragon” spacecraft to the Red Planet. Coincidentally, the Red-Dragon project was cancelled in 2017, the year of another significant Revelation 12 alignment.

The above correlations suggest that the Red Planet could be the “red dragon” referred to in Revelation

12. If this is the case, the presence of Mars during the birth of asteroid Child in 2023 is significant indeed.

COMET COINCIDENCE

As the asteroid Child is being born in mid-September, a newly discovered comet named after its discoverer, Hideo Nishimura, will also be passing through Virgo. The name Hideo Nishimura has a threefold prophetic connotation:

First, the name Hideo means “excellent man,” “hero,” or “husband man.” This is significant because Jesus is referred to as the “goodman,” “mighty man,” or “husband,” who is returning on the appointed day

(Prov. 7:19, 20).

Second, the name Nishimura means “to go west.” This is significant because Jesus’ return is said to be as lightning flashes from “east to west” (Matt. 24:27).

Third, the Gematria value of the name Hideo Nishimura is 153, corresponding to the 153 fish, symbolic of Christians, who are “caught up” and brought to the Lord (John 21).

So, in the name Hideo Nishimura we have a picture of the goodman (Jesus) returning at the appointed

time. Furthermore, it is a one-of-a-kind picture because, with an orbit of 435 years, Comet Nishimura will not transit Virgo again any time soon.

ONLY CHILD

Between 2015 and 2030, the asteroid Child is birthed from Virgo twice: in January 2019 and September 2023. However, only one of these births occurs during the Revelation 12 alignment—the one in 2023. This is significant as the birth of the child is a fundamental component of the Revelation 12 Sign: with no “Child” to be born, there is no sign.

DIVINELY CONCEIVED

Exactly nine months prior to the September birth of asteroid Child from Virgo, in December 2022, an asteroid named 3241 Yeshuhua—akin to Jesus’ Hebrew name, Yeshua or Yehoshua—passed through the reproductive area of Virgo, denoting a Divine conception:

“The angel [said to the virgin Mary], “The Holy Spirit will come on you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the holy one to be born will be called the Son of God” (Luke 1:35).

That the birth of the asteroid Child is preceded nine months by a “conception,” via Yeshuhua, defies coincidence, and bolsters the notion that the astronomical birth is a sign from God.

CHILD’S DISCOVERER

Asteroid Child was discovered in 1989 by American Astronomer, Jack B. Child (b. 1951). Jack Child’s initials are “JC,” a moniker for Jesus Christ. But the most compelling aspect of this coincidence is the

simple fact that a man with the last name “Child” happened to discover the asteroid that exits Virgo’s belly during the Revelation 12 alignment, thus fulfilling the “child” component of the sign.

What are the odds?

SUMMARY AND CONCLUSION

Mid-September 2023 will see a one-of-a-kind convergence in the heavens:

- Virgo will be clothed with the Sun with the Moon at her feet.

- An asteroid named Child will be exiting the belly of Virgo.

- The Red Planet will be hovering around the belly of Virgo.

- A newly discovered comet will be passing through Virgo for the only foreseeable time.

The above convergence matches the “great sign” associated with the end of the age in Revelation 12.

The million-dollar question: is the sign telling us that the end is near, or is it telling us that the end is HERE?

Whichever the case, the implications are astronomical.

NOTES:

The Zodiac, or Mazzaroth (Hebrew), illustrates God’s plan of redemption for humanity. This heavenly mode of communication is alluded to in the Psalms: “The heavens declare the glory of God … Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they reveal knowledge” (Ps. 19:1, 2).

Virgo, the “woman” in Revelation 12, is the first sign in the circle of the Zodiac, and thus symbolizes a new beginning, or the start of an era. With this in mind, the great sign in Revelation 12 is first a picture of the birth of Jesus, and the tribulation of the Church Age. Secondly, the sign is a picture of the Rapture of the Church, when the earth gives “birth” to the dead, and the final Tribulation period begins: “As a pregnant woman about to give birth writhes and cries out in her pain, so were we in your presence, LORD. We were with child, we writhed in labor, but we gave birth to wind. We have not brought salvation to the earth, and the people of the world have not come to life. But your dead will live, LORD; their bodies will rise—let those who dwell in the dust wake up and shout for joy—your dew is like the dew of the morning; the earth will GIVE BIRTH to her dead. Go, my people, enter your rooms and shut the doors behind you; hide yourselves for a little while until his wrath has passed by. See,

the LORD is coming out of his dwelling to punish the people of the earth for their sins. The earth will disclose the blood shed on it; the earth will conceal its slain no longer” (Isa. 26:17–21).

Interestingly, in 2031 the asteroid Child is birthed from Virgo during Hanukah, December 10–17. However, the other required elements of the Revelation 12 Sign are not present.

Early translations of 2 Thessalonians 2 correctly use the word “departure” (not rebellion or falling away), which has the connotation of something being suddenly removed, or disappearing. Thus, in 2 Thessalonians 2, Paul is reassuring believers who thought they were in the Tribulation period by saying, “the Day of Judgment will not come until first the departure (of the Church) occurs.”
